I had a lot of problems with flaky accountants who messed up my taxes and/or held my info hostage. I was sick and tired of persons who do not do their job correctly and just because they are an accountant in Alberta which basically have no accountability to their clients in this province. When I first met with Paul I was skeptical of any accountant based on my past experiences and I voiced my concerns openly to Paul. Basically told him that if he was not going to do my taxes correctly and provide good service that I didn't want to waste my time. Paul listened to my concerns with an open mind and assured me that I would not be taken for granted with his office. I am happy to report that he is a man of his word and I couldn't be happier with the service and quality of the work done with Padgett. I am a small home based business owner who operates based on Christian principals. It was great to discover later on that Paul too shares the same foundation of faith that I do. Paul and Cheryl have a unique entrepreneurial generational story, both were raised in successful family-run businesses.
Paul, a second generation business owner, and for Cheryl, a third generation business owner. Cheryl’s grandfather, Harry Maughan (Haddow and Maughan Ltd.) had multiple locations with hundreds of employees. Paul’s dad, Bill Morin had built a very successful manufacturing business (Jasper Tank Manufacturing). But, it wasn’t always smooth sailing, as a matter of fact, there were some very difficult and stressful times as kid’s growing up in these kinds of families. Anybody who has grown up in a similar situation, or, is currently running their own business knows exactly what they are talking about. They both understand the challenges of keeping the "boat afloat" in downturns in the economy. They know how challenging it can be with the banks when things get tough. Then there are the concerns an owner has about their staff and their families when business is down. The challenges are endless, but for all seasoned professional entrepreneurs, that’s why we hang in there during the tough times, because when things are really good, they are GREAT. Through all of this, Paul and Cheryl have learned some incredible life lessons growing up. Ones that they have brought into their own business.
