Those who live according to the sinful nature have their minds set on what that nature desires, but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. Romans 8:5
COVID and these times of racial tensions have created uncertainty to one extent or another in all of us. As our human nature will have it, we are drawn into a place of fear and doubt. We mistakenly let our flesh override our Spirit and “our wisdom” to take the easiest way out—the Blame Game! Someone has to be blamed for all this, right? If not mankind, it must be God!
Blame, blame, blame; it becomes a vicious cycle. In any human relationship, there is no way out of the circle of damage without taking our eyes off blame and finding what change is needed. If we could just change that natural reaction of pointing fingers at the Chinese for releasing this catastrophe and the COVID-19 virus. If we could not blame all the Chinese, as not all were involved, they too were blindsided by it. It happened to be the mistake of one company, whom the media would like us to believe has done this on purpose. Who is to blame for all the racial tension and who is to pay for it all? I am not saying it does not exist, because I believe it does, for all humans in one way or another.
This is Satan’s game. If he can keep us in this Blame Game, he no longer must try to kill or destroy us; we will just kill and destroy each other. I see it happening every day on our news broadcasts. It is as plain as day. Every day you will see the blame and the destruction of our human race. Even in the so-called suggestions for change made by our government or law enforcement, it circles back to who is to blame. The only thing blame produces is shame. Almost every social media post shames our leaders, whether it is government, medical, or police. Oh, how we have played into Satan’s schemes.
Blame and shame create disunity, and without all of humanity coming into unity to find and agree on solutions, we are en route to destroying our human race. It seems like there is no hope. How will we ever stop this cycle, especially if all of us must come into unity? It is possible. It starts small, with us taking responsibility to build unity in our own circles of influence. It is like a ripple in the water; if one starts, more will follow.
Ask yourselves, can we stop blaming others and instead focus on what changes our family, our business, our neighborhood can make?
Here are a few simple changes we will make for our family (which will lead to more changes daily):
- If it becomes necessary to wear a mask, we will not criticize it. We will believe those who have made the decisions have our well-being at heart.
- We will treat our neighbors as we treat ourselves. Be generous, help all humans as God intended us to, with love and compassion.
- Simply smile at people and be polite, all people, no one left out.
- Our business is, and always has been, working towards unity. We will continue that path.
If we can live out Jesus’ command, “Love your God with all your heart and soul and love your neighbor as yourself,” we would come to realize blame has no place in our life. Change is what God wants for all our lives, not blame.
