Job Title: Children’s Director (Grades 1-5)
Location: Main Street Church, Chilliwack, BC
Reports To: Director of Family Ministries
Position Type: Full-Time
Position Summary
The Children’s Director for Grades 1-5 will provide visionary leadership for the spiritual growth and development of children in grades 1-5 at Main Street Church. This individual will oversee all aspects of children’s ministry, from Sunday programming to special events, ensuring an environment that promotes learning, spiritual growth, and a strong sense of community. The Director will collaborate with volunteers, parents, and church leadership to create engaging, biblical, and age-appropriate experiences that help children develop a personal relationship with Christ.
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership & Oversight: Lead and oversee the Children’s Ministry for grades 1-5, ensuring the spiritual formation of children through Sunday School, mid-week activities, and special events.
- Curriculum Development & Implementation: Implement age-appropriate Bible-based curriculum that encourages spiritual growth and Biblical knowledge.
- Volunteer Recruitment & Training: Recruit, train, and equip volunteer leaders to assist with Sunday classes, events, and children’s activities. Provide ongoing support and encouragement to the volunteer team.
- Parental Involvement: Foster strong relationships with parents through communication, parent meetings, and resources to encourage their active participation in their child’s faith journey.
- Event Planning: Organize special events that align with the church’s mission and vision, creating fun and educational experiences for children.
- Safety & Well-Being: Ensure that all children’s ministry environments are safe, welcoming, and conducive to learning, and adhere to safety protocols and child protection policies.
- Spiritual Mentorship: Serve as a role model for children and volunteers, exemplifying Christ-like behaviour, compassion, and leadership.
- Collaboration: Work closely with other ministry leaders (youth, family, outreach) to create a cohesive church-wide ministry strategy.
Qualifications
- Spiritual Maturity: A strong, personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a passion for working with children.
- Experience: Previous experience in children’s ministry, preferably with grades 1-5, is preferred.
Skills & Abilities:
- Ability to communicate effectively with children, parents, and volunteers.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Creativity in developing engaging and educational programming.
- Ability to work well in a team environment and collaborate with other ministries.
Education: A degree or certification in children’s ministry, education, or a related field is preferred, but not required. First Aid training is required.
Background Check: Successful completion of a background check.
