Advance care planning is a gift to my family.

I learned a lot about the requirements of advance care planning in British Columbia through the Orderly Affairs advance care planning service. There are many details to consider but what I took away from it most was the gift of peace that I was giving to those I love, by relaying my end of life wishes well before I am ​at death's door. I also realized how much more clearly I could reflect on my values and beliefs around end of life wishes while I am still healthy. And although I may need to change my wishes over time, I am beginning a process that I would have definitely put off until much later, if at all. T​he beautifully illustrated and laid out workbook is presented in a very clear, step by step process that makes this subject matter approachable and I can always refer to it for more information.

The Orderly Affairs Guide is fantastic! It is wonderfully thorough and easy to navigate. You will learn what information is necessary (and why it is necessary) to document for your executor. This Guide is written in a friendly voice and combined with a very practical layout and super helpful tips along the way, it keeps you motivated to get the job done. If you live in BC and you have a Will, you should have all your affairs in order, regardless of your age. The Orderly Affairs Guide is a great tool to help you finally get that done.

My parents both died after a long battle with sickness. I wish they had each given me information on how to best assist them and grant their wishes, as they approached death, but they didn’t. They blessed me their whole lives and I wanted to give them the best final years I could. It was frustrating and sad to not know and only guess their desires. I determined I was going to write out my end of life wishes for my family so that they would be confident and united in their decisions about my end of life. A quick search of the internet was overwhelming and of course raised emotions making it just easier to “do it later”. Then along came the Orderly Affairs advance care planning service.
