The Ottawa Scripture Marathon is a public Bible-reading event hosted in Ottawa to proclaim the Word of God, unite the Church, and raise support for community outreach initiatives through the Connect Centre. Over the course of several days, participants from churches and ministries across the city gather to read the New Testament aloud continuously in a visible public setting, creating a powerful witness of faith, hope, and unity in the heart of the city.
The event welcomes people of all ages and backgrounds to participate by signing up for reading slots, listening, praying, and engaging with the broader community. Beyond the public reading itself, the Scripture Marathon serves as an opportunity to connect with passersby, distribute Bibles, encourage spiritual conversations, and invite people into deeper community and support through ongoing ministries.
The Ottawa Scripture Marathon also functions as a fundraiser for the Connect Centre, a downtown ministry hub serving vulnerable populations, newcomers, and those seeking spiritual care and connection. The event highlights the transforming power of Scripture while fostering collaboration among churches and believers across Ottawa.
In 2024, the Ottawa Scripture Marathon brought together participants from more than 16 churches and ministries across the city for a three-day public reading of the New Testament. The event was marked by strong community participation, meaningful conversations, worship, prayer, and remarkable weather despite forecasts predicting rain.
The Scripture Marathon begins at 6PM Friday Evening and goes through Saturday Evening. We will start in the Gospels and read through to Revelation. Join us at anytime during the weekend, whether you have signed up or not. Refreshments, restrooms, and resources are located inside the Connect Centre. Return on Saturday from 6-8PM for our Revelation Celebration as we integrate praise and worship into our reading of Revelation.
